AHC31818 Certificate III in Beekeeping

This nationally recognised qualification provides the skills and knowledge of a honey bee beekeeper.

This program covers the establishment of beehives and apiaries, the transport of live bees and the responsible management of bees for commercial honey production and provision of pollination services in accordance with legislation, regulations and codes of practice specifically those related to biosecurity.

There are two options for completing this program.

Beekeepers with more than two years experience can complete the program over 12 months, and can find course information here.

For beekeepers with less than two years experience we offer an 18 - 24 month program, with course information here.

Basic Beekeeping Skill Set

This course is for recreational, urban or new semi commercial beekeepers.

The nationally recognised Basic Beekeeping Skill Set (AHCSS00075) will prepare learners with the knowledge and skills required to operate a beehive or small apiary.

Following completion of the course and all assessment activities, candidates will be able to:

● Assessable and maintain beekeeping components

● Manage pests and disease within a honey bee colony

● Prepare and use a bee smoker

● Open and reassemble a beehive

● Manipulate honeybee brood

● Remove a honey crop from a hive
